Heidi Fite & Charlie Fuller created
the Blues Dance website in 2002 in order to promote and provide information
about Blues dancing in general and to give information about their classes,
workshops, and dance events both in St. Louis and around the country.
In the following years, a growing national interest in Blues dance inspired more and more teachers who had already been teaching Blues dance as part of their Lindy workshops to teach longer workshops in Blues dance or to focus on Blues dance exclusively. National Blues dance events focusing solely on Blues dance instruction and Blues dancing such as Cheap Thrills All Blues Weekend, Red, White & Blues, and Down Home Blues Dance Festival began.
At the same time, there arose an interest in the roots of Blues dance: "What is Blues dance?" "Where did this dance come from?" "How is it different - or is it different? - today from what it used to be?" This website aims to be a clearinghouse of information about Blues dance, to bring together all the information we can find about Blues dancing to help answer these questions. In addition, this website has evolved to contain information about Blues dance instructors and Blues dance events across the nation so that you can find out who's teaching Blues dance and where you can learn it.

Heidi Fite founded FUSION in 2002 in order to promote and support social dancing
(especially Swing, Lindy Hop, Blues, and other vintage dances) in the St. Louis area.
FUSION was formed as a not-for-profit cooperative group of St. Louis teachers and dancers, but has grown to include dancers and teachers across the nation who are dedicated to promoting knowledge about Lindy Hop and Blues dance and helping students of all ages and ability levels improve their dancing through natural movement and partner connection.
FUSION has been the creative force behind both Cheap Thrills All Blues Weekend and bluesSHOUT!
