Damon Stone & Heidi Fite began dancing and teaching together in the San
Francisco Bay Area in 2005 when Heidi moved from St. Louis to San Francisco.
Together they run the venue Roots in San Francisco,
providing weekly Blues lessons for experienced, intermediate, and advanced
dancers, as well as a weekly dance party. They regularly teach lessons
at the 9:20 Special
on Thursdays, The
Doghouse on Saturdays, and Friday
Night Blues on Fridays. In addition, they often hold special workshop
weekends at different studios in the Bay Area.
Damon & Heidi share a love for Blues dance in both vintage and modern forms and continue to promote both local and national interest in the dance through teaching Blues workshops around the country and organizing national Blues dance events such as Cheap Thrills All Blues Weekend in St. Louis, MO, the annual Down Home Blues Dance Festival in San Francisco, CA, and the upcoming bluesSHOUT!
Their classes are inspiring and challenging, but their focus on the underlying
principles and a clear explanation of the fundamentals allows them to
break down the most difficult concepts and moves so they are easy to understand
and incorporate. More important, Damon & Heidi are able to communicate
and instill in their students a love of dance and a dedication to the
learning process. With an eye on musicality, partner connection, and improvisation,
Damon & Heidi will get you on the floor and "dancing" rather than just
doing moves. View photos and video of Damon
& Heidi.
